[Ontario Beach Park] Ontario Beach Park

Ontario Beach Park (map) is located in the northern most part of the City of Rochester, New York on the shore of Lake Ontario and is the gathering point of thousands of Americans who take part in the annual patriotic event known as Operation Patriot.

Ontario Beach Park provides a large playground for the kids, a boat launch and the historic Dentzel menagerie carousel, a soccer field, 2 softball fields, volleyball courts, picnic shelters, food concession, bathhouse, fishing pier and a Performance Pavilion, that hosts Operation Patriot's live entertainment.

You will find vendor tents throughout the park, along with a motorcycle show, classic and sports car show, military, fire, law enforcement and emergency response vehicles on show. Several mini-events are also planned.

Ontario Beach Park attracts tens of thousands of visitors annually.

Hamlin Beach State Park

[Hamlin Beach State Park] Just 15 minutes down the scenic Lake Ontario State Parkway, Hamlin Beach State Park's clear water, sandy beaches and 264 tent and trailer campsites bring thousands of visitors to the park each year. The camp sites are awesome and the ride down the Lake Ontario State Parkway is free of commercial traffic (no tractor trailers!)

Visitors can launch car-top boats, fish for salmon and trout and enjoy the picnic facilities.

The most prominent feature of the park is the bluff area at the west end known as Devil's Nose. Because of dangerous conditions, it is a restricted area, but it remains a landmark for sailors as they pass to the north.

Durand Eastman Park

[Durand Eastman Park] Just around the corner from Ontario Beach Park, with 5,000 feet of Lake Ontario waterfront, Durand-Eastman Park is a favorite for sun bathers. Originally the estate of Dr. Henry Durand, the park was a gift to the city by Dr. Durand and George Eastman, who acquired some adjacent lands to increase its size to 965 acres.

Durand Eastman Park is also the home of The Lady in White who roams searching for her daughter who had supposedly been assaulted and murdered by unknown assailants. There are many different versions to the story, but this is indeed a documented fact in the Irondequoit libraries, and police department. Keep an eye out, especially near the Lady in White's castle which is located in the park.
