This is a BIGGIE!
In 2013, the United States Department of Veterans Affairs released a study that covered suicides from 1999 to 2010, which showed that roughly 22 veterans were dying by suicide every day, or one every 65 minutes. Some sources suggest that this rate may be undercounting suicides. We need to help. We'd love your support.
The challenge is to ride 22 miles per day for 22 days for a total of 484 miles.
This virtual ride challenge can also be done anywhere you like - your neighborhood, your favorite twisties, on back roads or highways; you can even clock your miles on the way back and forth from work.
Whether you’re twisting the throttle or pumping the pedals, you’ll have between July 4th and Sept. 11th to complete this Challenge in however many sessions you’d like. It’s completely up to you! Help us fight this terrible trend.

On Saturday, September 20th, we will be holding a community charity walk at the Mall at Greece Ridge.
This will be the 2nd time we've held a charity walk at the mall. Hundreds joined us for the "Walk for W. Webster Firefighters" on January 5th of 2013 raising $3600.00 for the families of volunteer firefighter and Police Lt. Registration for the walk will begin at 8:00 A.M. in the Food Court at the mall - the walk begins at 9:15 A.M. A minimum donation of $10 per person is requested. Proceeds go to:< br> The Family of Officer Daryl Pierson< br> c/o The Rochester Police Locust Club, Inc.< br> 1425 Lexington Avenue< br> Rochester, New York 14606< br>

Simply have them sign the form, collect their donation and give them to one of our registration team members on Saturday!

As many of you know, this is one of the longest running, largest and most successful rides in Upstate NY. We missed you all last year due to being rained out. This year's rain date is September 8th.
We look forward to your support.
This innovative approach, designed by U.S. Army and Marine Corps veterans, gives civilians the opportunity to experience the discipline and stamina of U.S. Military basic training.
Trot w/ Troops is held in the three largest cities in NY State – Buffalo, Rochester & New York City
If you’re looking for more of a challenge, the PT Challenge – also designed by U.S. Army & Marine Corps veterans – will test your all around strength, stamina and mental grit. Drill Instructors will be on hand to motivate you through a series of Basic Training exercises followed by a timed race that includes a 25-yard “Bear Crawl”, a 25-yard “Low Crawl” and ends with a 1.6-mile sprint. The winner will receive a $500.00 prize. The PT Challenge will be held in Rochester on May 26th.
Trot w/ Troops and the PT Challenge are two of the premier fundraisers of Operation Patriot Foundation, which has raised more than $120,000 in support of fire, police and military personnel.
Proceeds from Trot w/ Troops and the PT Challenge support our troops returning from combat suffering from PTSD and legal issues.
To register for Trot w/ Troops or the PT Challenge: Rochester – http://www.active.com/.../trot-w--troops---rochester-ny-2013

The event is intended to bring the community together in an in-door environment to pay tribute to volunteer firefighter and Police Lt. Michael Chiapperini, Tomasz Kaczowka, Theodore Scardino, Joseph Hofstetter and Greece Police officer John Ritter.
Funds raised will be donated to the West Webster Volunteer Fireman’s Association.
This will be the second response of Operation Patriot to this tragedy. On Christmas Eve day, just hours after the shootings, the organization posted two American flags on eight-foot poles at the W. Webster firehouse. Each flag has the names of the fallen firefighters (Michael Chiapperini, Tomasz Kaczowka) attached as a memorial to their sacrifice. The flags were visible throughout news media coverage and during the many vigils held for the heroes.
Directly following the posting of the flags, the organization was able to make a monetary donation to the West Webster Volunteer Fireman’s Association in support of the families of the fallen.
Operation Patriot Foundation, Inc. is a 501(c) 3 non-profit organization registered with the IRS and the State of NY.

ABOUT THE 5K TROT:
Trot w/ Troops is not a race, it's a charity walk/run with proceeds supporting our troops returning from combat. There are two components to Trot w/ Troops - the March and the Trot. If you enjoy running, the Trot is a full-blown double-time run. For those who want to participate in the fundraiser but running is not for you, simply join the Military March. Both will be in formation and lead by U.S. Military personnel calling out cadence. LOUD & PROUD is the theme so prepare to make noise!
PRIOR SERVICE / VETERANS:
If you're prior service, wear your military fatigues, PT uniform (or any other military uniform you wish to trot in) and join your branch at the front of the pack. Registration is not required.
FORMATION:
We ask that all participants line up in formation with our Troops. PLEASE do not break formation or pass the person lined up in front of you. If you feel you need to rest, we ask that you step off the course and fall back in at the end of the pack. Please do not enter back into the formation until all participants have passed.
CADENCE:
There will be Military Squad Leaders calling out cadence. As part of the experience, Marchers & Trotters are strongly encouraged to participate by repeating the cadence. LOUD and PROUD is the theme so be prepared to use those vocal chords!
FREE T-SHIRTS:
FREE t-shirt to the first 150 PAID registrants. Additional t-shirts may be available for sale at the event while supplies last.
